Filippo Menczer Indiana University Wed, April 6 12:00 12:00 noon 411, West Hall Web Networks This talk will describe ongoing efforts to study the topological and dynamical properties of link, lexical, and semantic networks stemming from various features of the World Wide Web. I will outline what we think, what we know, what we can use regarding the structure and content of the Web, and what the future of intelligent Web search may bring. Filippo Menczer is an Associate Professor of Informatics and Computer Science at Indiana University. He holds a Laurea in Physics from the University of Rome and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Menczer has been the recipient of Fulbright, Rotary Foundation, and NATO fellowships, and is a fellow-at-large of the Santa Fe Institute. His research on Web, text, and data mining, adaptive intelligent agents, complex systems, and artificial life is supported by a Career Award from the National Science Foundation.
